Water Pump Pressure Control Switch Replacement

If your Water Pump Pressure Control Switch stops working, it may be time for a replacement. The pressure control switch consists of an internal spring mechanism that creates pressure against an electrical contact. Over time, the spring and electrical contacts will become worn and weak, and the switch may not function properly. Humidity and frequent use can also wear the switch out. Without a working pressure control switch, the pump will not turn on or off when the pressure reaches the cut-in and cut-out points.

When choosing a new pressure control switch, make sure that you select one that operates at the appropriate cut-in and cut-out pressures. The pressure control switch is designed to automatically turn on and off the pump at the appropriate pressures. If this is not the case, there could be other issues with your system.

Ensure that your Water Pump Pressure Control Switch is heavy-duty. The heavy-duty pressure control switch is typically made to withstand higher pressure levels. Pumps with a power rating of over two hp should be equipped with a heavy-duty pressure control switch, while pumps with a power rating of less than two hp can use a standard pressure control switch. If your Water Pump Pressure Control Switch has a cracked nipple, you may need to replace it. Alternatively, you can tighten the nipple connection around the switch. You should also check the contacts on the switch. They should be black and have no small holes.

Once you have removed the old pressure control switch, you can install the new one. Make sure that the new pressure control switch works with the same pressure range. If your pressure control switch doesn't function properly, you should contact a plumbing supplier or contractor to have it replaced.
